Job Description Summary

The University of Leeds is seeking an ambitious and skilled researcher to join their team as a Research Fellow in Combustion Diagnostics using Advanced Laser Techniques. This exciting opportunity involves investigating the instability of premixed flames under laminar and turbulent conditions, utilizing state-of-the-art laser diagnostics to capture instantaneous flame propagation and surrounding flow fields.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, run, and analyze a suite of laser diagnostics to investigate flame propagation processes, flame structures, and flow conditions in collaboration with Dr. Junfeng Yang.
  • Generate and pursue independent and original research ideas in the field of combustion science.
  • Develop research objectives, proposals, and contribute to setting the direction of the research project and team, including preparing proposals for funding.
  • Evaluate methods, techniques, and results obtained by other researchers and relate them to your own work.
  • Contribute significantly to the dissemination of research results through publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences.
  • Work independently and as part of a larger research team, both internally and externally, to develop new research links and collaborations, and engage in knowledge transfer activities.
  • Attend regular project meetings and report project deliverables to collaborators and sponsors.
  • Maintain your continuing professional development and mentor less experienced colleagues as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students, including assisting with the supervision of projects relevant to the project.
