Job Description Summary
The University of Leeds is seeking an experienced HR Manager to support the development and delivery of effective employment and industrial relations practices through constructive partnership working with trade unions and managing HR casework.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a holistic employee relations approach to foster constructive relationships and practices with recognized trade unions.
- Guide and coach university managers on industrial relations and case management best practices, including employee and trade union engagement, consultation, and negotiation.
- Triage HR cases, identify processes and individuals involved, and serve as the first point of contact for HR colleagues and staff members.
- Drive efficiencies by overseeing the provision and tracking of employee relations-related metrics, analyzing patterns and trends, and providing insights to HR leadership.
- Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to ensure successful and timely delivery of objectives aligned with the University’s People and Culture Strategy.
- Advise HR colleagues on employee relations matters, including legislation, TUPE, organizational change, and case management processes.
- Stay updated on UK employment law and ensure effective implementation of legislative changes in people-related matters.
- Support the timely and structured review of employment policies, practices, and procedures, including developing and implementing a harmonized approach.
- Advise HR colleagues on the interpretation and application of employment policies, practices, and procedures to ensure equity, fairness, and consistency.
- Design and deliver learning materials and resources to assist with the implementation of new or updated policies and procedures.
- Represent the University of Leeds at regional networks to share ideas, practices, and collaborative working to minimize employee relations issues.
