Job Description Summary

The Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Leeds is seeking an experienced leader to serve as the Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation), responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership for research and innovation initiatives within the Faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Executive Dean, Faculty Operations Director, and other senior leaders to develop and implement the research strategy and vision, ensuring engagement with all staff and stakeholders.
  • Lead a portfolio of cross-faculty work, programs, and initiatives to meet the Faculty’s research objectives and support excellence in research and innovation.
  • Act as a visible leader, instrumental in the development and delivery of strategic and operational plans for the Faculty.
  • Work closely with other Faculties and Schools to develop synergies that drive the academic vision for the University.
  • Take lead responsibility for the overall performance of the Faculty in relation to meeting University expectations for research KPIs.
  • Work with the Faculty Operations Director to ensure effective governance and operating models are in place to support research activities in the Faculty.
  • Work with the Faculty Head of HR to lead workforce development initiatives.
  • Mentor individual Heads of School/Institute as directed by the Executive Dean.
  • Manage and direct the work of the Faculty Pro-Dean (R&I), REF Lead, Faculty Research Centres, and other relevant entities.
