Job Description Summary of College Senior Advisor
The University of Derby seeks a dedicated College Senior Advisor to provide professional support services, guidance, and advice to students and program teams, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience throughout the student journey.
Responsibilities
- Offer advice, information, and guidance to students on issues related to their program of study, including handling complex queries.
- Collaborate with academic colleagues to deliver excellent program support, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures for academic standards and quality.
- Provide comprehensive academic administration across various programs, implementing effective processes for an exceptional student experience.
- Respond to escalated issues and cases from Level 4 College Advisors.
- Monitor and manage student record profiles, providing reports and analysis from diverse data sources to relevant stakeholders promptly.
- Utilize management information to support university metrics for student retention, progression, and achievement.
- Plan, prioritize, and implement key activities across the College, ensuring a consistent approach and compliance with university regulations and requirements.
- Foster collaborative relationships with all university areas to ensure the best response to students.
- Research and establish suitable sources of information to support students, ensuring currency, appropriate formats, and proper sharing with colleagues.
- Meet regularly with Course Directors/Program Leaders to review student profiles, attendance, identify potential issues, provide advice on university processes and regulations, and take necessary actions.
- Contribute significantly to the development and positive promotion of the College Registry team, including active participation in relevant committees and meetings.
- Ensure an inclusive service with a focus on delivering excellence.
- Provide mentoring and training for College Advisors and Assistant Advisors.
- Develop and implement contract monitoring processes and procedures, including preparing reports and returns as required.
- Contribute to small-scale projects and prepare associated reports and analysis.
- Potentially provide line management and associated support for other members of the College Advisor Team.
- Undertake reviews and evaluations of the services provided to develop and enhance service standards.
- Maintain professional competence through continuous professional development in line with the role.
- Support the wider work of the Registry across various programs, providing an excellent student experience and assisting in key university operational activities.
