Job Description Summary of College Assistant Advisor
The College Assistant Advisor role at the University of Derby involves providing academic administration and support across various programs to ensure an excellent experience for students.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing advice, information, and guidance to students on issues related to their program of study.
- Undertake administrative duties to support advice work, using escalatory channels when appropriate, and collaborate with academic colleagues to deliver excellent program support.
- Monitor and manage student record profiles, acting as a key contact point for students and program teams for queries and advice regarding changes to their program/modules.
- Assist program teams to ensure that students engage in their studies and placement activities by understanding student attendance, absence, and extensions.
- Undertake activities to support program events such as enrolment, induction, and module evaluation, ensuring clear and timely communication with students.
- Handle administrative duties regarding student assessment processes.
- Assist in providing suitable sources of information required to support students, ensuring it remains current, in appropriate formats, and is shared appropriately with colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with all areas of the University to ensure the best response to students.
- Participate in regular meetings with the program team to review student profiles, attendance, identify potential issues, provide advice on University processes and regulations, and take action as required.
- Contribute to the development and positive promotion of the College Registry team, including active participation in appropriate Committees and meetings.
- Ensure an inclusive service with a focus on delivering excellence.
- Escalate issues or concerns to the College Advisors and/or Senior Advisor.
- Maintain professional competence through continuous professional development in line with the role.
- Support the wider work of the Registry across a range of programs, providing an excellent student experience and assisting in key University operational activities.
