Job Description Summary of Careers & Work Experience Assistant
The University of Derby is seeking a skilled and dedicated Careers & Work Experience Assistant to join their Buxton & Leek College team. This role will provide excellent administrative and customer service support to students and industry partners, ensuring the smooth delivery of career guidance and work experience opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Locate and negotiate work experience placements for Further Education (FE) students as part of the Careers and Engagement team.
- Maintain accurate data and records related to careers and work experience placements in the central database.
- Collect and complete necessary information to support the work experience process, including industry and student details for Health and Safety Assessors.
- Ensure compliance with University and legal Health & Safety requirements for work experience placements.
- Coordinate details such as attendance, dress code, and work expectations with placement providers and students.
- Administer Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for students as required for work placements.
- Initiate, maintain, and build productive relationships with current and potential placement providers.
- Utilize IT skills, including spreadsheets, email, internet research, and databases, to manage and progress work efficiently.
- Assist with projects and tasks related to employer and career events as outlined by the Engagement Manager.
- Provide a welcoming and helpful environment for all students engaging with the Careers and Engagement Team.
