Job Description Summary of Lecturer in Statistics

The University of Leeds is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative academic to join the Department of Statistics within the School of Mathematics and/or the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA) as a Lecturer in Statistics (Teaching and Scholarship). This role is part of a strategic investment to develop online distance-learning postgraduate programmes in statistics and data science.

Responsibilities

• Deliver research-led education for the online MSc Data Science (Statistics) postgraduate taught course and participate in other teaching activities
• Supervise and assess project work, primarily for online students, and provide pastoral care and support across multiple time zones
• Contribute to the planning, design, development, review, and evaluation of modules, programmes, and quality assurance mechanisms
• Maintain personal scholarly research activity, contribute to scholarship in Data Science (Statistics), and conduct scholarship of teaching and learning
• Develop innovative teaching and assessment methodologies, especially for online modules, and contribute to the production of high-quality learning materials
• Collaborate with Marketing, Admissions, and DES colleagues to ensure the attractiveness of online programmes
• Contribute to administrative processes, committee structures, and take on leadership roles within the Institute/School/Faculty
